The Clay Factory Diaries: June 2018 | Arts and Enterprise Community in Action

Hello again and welcome to the new home of The Clay Factory Diaries. From now on we’re going to be writing a monthly blog piece that will be published via our website and through our social media profiles. The idea is to let you all know what’s been happening at The Clay Factory as move forward through the next stages of our innovative project.

RedPod Arts Update…

Earlier this month we played host to the annual Devon Printmakers Exhibition here at The Clay Factory, those that came to the show will testify just how great the standard of artwork was and we were thrilled to have been able to ensure that the event took place this year.

We’re all beavering away here at The Clay Factory as we’re now looking towards September for the annual Devon Open Studios event. There are lots of exciting things that are happening as a result and we look forward to sharing these with you over the coming months.

One particular highlight for us was giving out the first ever RedPod Arts award n conjunction with Plymouth College of Art. One of the things we’re passionate about is enabling creatives to follow pursue their passions. That is why we designed an award for graduates that was focussed on giving them the space they need to develop their practice and careers once they leave the educational setting. So we’re pleased to announce that from September we’ll have two graduates with us until March as they undertake a project with us. So watch this space…

The Clay Factory…

The Clay Factory never stands still, in fact, we’re always up to something up here. This month has seen our community come together for a range of events such as Devon Carers Week and for a weekend of gardening to make our site building more appealing now that the summer sun is shining down upon us.

We’ve unfortunately seen some of our tenants leave us for pastures new, it’s always sad when someone n our community needs to move on but we like to think that their experience with us will leave them with nothing but happy memories. As with many aspects of life, when someone leaves our lives we see new relationships on the horizon and we’re pleased to say that we have some new tenants coming to join us very soon.

We do however have a range of spaces available today so if you or anyone you know may be interested then ping us an email to

Don’t forget RedPod Food Pop Up Lunches are on every Wednesday and Friday from 12.30 to 14.00. We’ll hopefully see you then for a proper catch-up but for now, we’ll bid you farewell.
